Title:
  Ubuntu 13.10 no sound

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I get no sound whatsoever. My speakers are connected thru HDMI. When I
run alsamixer there is no s/pdif listed. There is a digital and analog
when I go to system settings/sound panel. I select test sound in both
digital and analog output and I get nothing.

I have tried the following things:
  sudo alsa force-reload
  Reboot

  Didn't work

  Then:
sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudi
  sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio
  sudo alsa force-reload
  Reboot

  Didn't work

Open the terminal and edit speech-dispatcher file by using the following
command:
  sudo gedit /etc/default/speech-dispatcher
In here, change RUN=yes to RUN=no
  Reboot

  Didn't work

  So now what?
