Sound Preferences don't show that the output has changed

Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
On Lucid
1) Plug a headset
2) Select it in the Sound preferences
3) Unplug the headset
4) Plug it again
RESULT : the sound is played in the headset, but when you look into
the Sound Preferences the headset is not shown as selected !
EXPECTED RESULT : in the Sound Preferences the headset is shown as
selected
