x session crash when clicking dash home

Bug description:
On Ubuntu 11.10, when clicking on dash home (unity menu bar), the
x-session will crash and redirect to the login page. This same
behavior occurs arbitrarily when executing other applications (e.g.
KCacheGrind, VirtualBox, ...) and sometimes without manual
interaction.
