Title:
Alsa does not recognize Realtek ACL1200 5.1 sound

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I have a MSI GX720 laptop, with an integrated Intel HD Audio - Codec
Realtek ACL1200. I have installed Ubuntu10.10 with the latest realtek
drivers, but Alsa does not recognize the 5.1 external speakers
connected through jacks. It offers only stereo options.

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec # adds the following
  result:

  Codec: Realtek ALC1200
  Codec: Motorola Si3054
  Codec: Nvidia MCP77/78 HDMI

lspci -v | grep -A8 Audio #adds the following feedback:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Device 7220
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 47
        Memory at f8ef8000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
        Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel
00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1
(rev 03) (prog-if 00 [Normal decode])

in the /etc/pulse/daemon.conf, I have changed the following lines:

  default-sample-channels = 6
  default-channel-map =
front-left,front-right,rear-left,rear-right,front-center,lfe

Also I added to the alsa-base.conf the following line:

  options snd-hda-intel model=targa-6ch-dig

The Pulseaudio has the following version installed:

  pulseaudio:
    Installed: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.1
    Candidate: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.1
