Sound (from the speakers) stops working after logging in.

Bug description:
During logging in, there is the distinct ubuntu login sound. Loud and clear,
from the laptop speakers.
After logging in, all sounds stop. But if i were to plugin a headset, it's
working fine. A reboot sometimes fixes it.
