Title:
Microphone doesn't work in Ubuntu build but does in mozilla.org build
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
getUserMedia doesn't ask for permission to use microphone, it simply
says "NotFoundError: The object can not be found here."
To reproduce:
1. Go to https://mozilla.github.io/webrtc-landing/gum_test.html
2. Click on the "Audio" button
Result:
Error message "NotFoundError: The object can not be found here."
Expected result:
Firefox should ask for permission to use the microphone
This happens only with the Ubuntu build of Firefox. The same version
downloaded from the Mozilla website works fine and is not affected by this
issue.
Using a clean profile doesn't make a difference.
The same problem happens on a different computer with different
versions of Ubuntu and Firefox.
I'm attaching an apport report just in case.
Affected Firefox version: 52.04b 64bit (52.0~b4+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1)
installed from firefox-next PPA
Ubuntu version: Trusty (14.04.5)
Build that works fine:
https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-52.0b4-SSL&os=linux64&lang=en-US
and in the other computer:
Affected Firefox version: 51.01 64bit (51.0.1+build2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1)
installed from official repo
Ubuntu version: Xenial (16.04.1)
Build that works fine:
https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-51.0.1-SSL&os=linux64&lang=en-US
