In the 2.8 GIMP, The bug is still existing !
I find it really unpleasant and breaking my mind idea ! I thinks is one on the
most unintuitive functionality who make a lot off people chose other product !
Knowing it was in 2.4.0 Gimp and remove after make me think "Better is the
enemy of Good"
How can we correct this "improvement" who make puke a lot of user ?

Title:
gimp: size for new image not set

Status in gimp package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gimp

On the old gimp versions, when I copy a selection of an image to the
clipboard, and then choose to create a new image, the dimensions for that new
image are the same as the pixels i've copied to the clipboard.
For example: when I copy a 40x40 image to the clipboard, and then choose new,
the width and height are both set to 40.
But on gimp 2.3 that no longer works, and I find that really annoying,
because I use that feature daily.
I hope you can fix this.
