Title: "Opening file" task in Panel takes long time to close Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I am using Ubuntu 10.10. When I try to open a simple text file or say an XML file in Firefox or Text Editor, a new item is shown in "Panel" saying "Opening xyz.xml" gets created. The file gets opened in a normal time but that thing in panel remains there for about a minute. This happens for many other type of files say opening a media file. I find it nagging. This looks like a bug. Have observed it on other machines too.
