I've a secondary screen connected, maybe that's of significance? I seem to need to give it a few seconds after the screens go off to reproduce. Certainly happens every time I actually walk away from the machine.
When the screen comes on, I can sometimes still see characters (dots) filling up the password field. If I wait before pressing Enter and count the dots, there's actually the correct number of dots, so the issue might be that of order rather than first key press not registering. If I wake the screen first using a mouse, all seems fine. Is there a way I can ask the lockscreen to log the typed-in password somewhere? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1715704 Title: Lockscreen doesn't register the first key press Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Steps to reproduce: * Super+L to lock * wait for screen to go off * type your password and press Enter Expected: * the lockscreen is gone Current: * the password isn't accepted If I press space before typing my password and wait a split second, only then type the password in, it works, so it seems the lockscreen (the part that slides up) eats one key press.
