After applying Dmitry's fix, I was able to update the PC and install
updates. It fixed the frequent freezes and crashes that I used to have.

Title:
bamfdaemon crashed with SIGSIEV in g_timeout_dispath()
Status in bamf package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
package: bamfdaemon 0.5.3~bzr0+16.04.20160824-0ubuntu1
The PC randomly crashes with no apparent reason. I can't provide
further information as I can't seem to know what is the problem
myself. I have tried to reinstall the system multiple times. The IT
department also check on the hardware and they said no failures could
be found.
What I can say is that the screen just freezes and I can only move the
mouse. The keyboard is unresponsive and I can't go to the virtual
terminal. Num. Lock can't be turned off (basically, the keyboard froze
also). The only way is to force restart the system. It happens
frequently (3 to 4 times a day).
