Title:
Ubuntu 17.10 beta does not remember display settings

Bug description:
17.10 beta has issues with remembering display settings. Whenever I
connect my external monitor, I have to change my preferred setup (only
external display active) and preferred resolution. I've to do this
multiple times a day and it is quite frustrating.

I'm running Ubuntu 17.10 on an XPS 13 laptop. My external monitor is a
4k LG connected via the USB type-c port.

  I don't remember this being a problem before 17.10 shipped Gnome 3.26
so probably that's where the bug comes from.
