  (NVidia) "Hardware Drivers" is empty

Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  If I run System > Administration > Hardware Drivers (/usr/bin/jockey-
  gtk), I obtain the message «No proprietary drivers are in use on this
  machine», and no driver is proposed (the window is empty). In the
  previous version of Ubuntu, I was able to select a NVidia driver.
  Here's more info:

  Ubuntu 8.10

  Gnome 2.24.1

  Restricted repository activated

  $ lspci | grep -i nvidia
  01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 
64/Model 64 Pro] (rev 15)

  $ uname -r
  2.6.27-9-generic

  # dpkg --get-selections | grep -i nvidia
  nvidia-173-modaliases                         install
  nvidia-177-modaliases                         install
  nvidia-71-modaliases                          install
  nvidia-96-modaliases                          install
  nvidia-common                                 install
  nvidia-glx-legacy                             deinstall
  nvidia-kernel-common                          install
