The segfault was easy to reproduce by opening the panel, changing to another one and then using the gsettings command line to change one of the dock options.
The 1:3.26.1-0ubuntu5 update has no segfault nor error anymore in valgrind, marking as verification-done-artful ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: Undecided => High ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-artful ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-artful -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725219 Title: /usr/bin/gnome-control- center:11:g_type_check_instance_cast:ext_ubuntu_dock_placement_changed_callback:g_closure_invoke:signal_emit_unlocked_R:g_signal_emit_valist Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnome-control-center source package in Artful: Fix Committed Bug description: [ Impact ] * This is a popular crash when using the Dock settings in gnome control center. The crash is harmless apart from closing g-c-c as the settings are applied, but triggers apport. [ Test case ] * This is hard to reproduce, as it means the stracktrace seems to imply that you go to the Dock panel, then another one, and trigger one of the dock callback signals like pluging/unplugging a monitor. [ Regression potential ] * We change one signal connection by another one which automatically disconnect. So, the callback may not work at all (which it doesn't, tested), or may continue to crash (unlikely, it's a standard glib function).
