Indeed. I have asked on the chromium-packagers mailing list whether
that's a known issue in the source tarball:
https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!topic/chromium-
packagers/XRj8R7z5nfU.

Title:
  chromium-chromedriver isn't compatible with chromium-browser

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The current version of chromium-chromedriver (2.30) is simply not
compatible with the chromium-browser version shipped with in this
  package.

It should be updated to 2.33 as it's the only one which correctly
  supports Chromium 61+.
