Title:
[G100] DDC takes so long (to fail) that gdm times out on a slow
computer
Status in xserver-xorg-video-mga package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Status in xorg package in Fedora:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Binary package hint: xorg
OS: 8.10
With undetected monitor, an error dialog is opened telling ubuntu is
running in low-resolution mode besides this:
(EE) MGA(0): Static buffer allocation failed, not initializing the DRI
(EE) MGA(0): Need at least 9216 kB video memory at this resolution, bit depth
It happens even if you have defined monitor properties in xorg.conf.
Whereas when you boot with a detected monitor and empty xorg.conf,
1024x768 mode works fine an no error dialog is displayed. However,
Xorg.0.log contains the previously mentioned two lines even then;
please see the attachment.
