Title:
Unresponsive windows freeze the whole shell
Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
When an application becomes unresponsive, the whole shell gets frozen.
The expected behaviour would be that the shell continues to be
responsive when a single application stops responding, possibly
notifying the user that a window is not responding.
This is happening to me quite frequently, when using Inkscape. At some
random point Inkscape freezes because of a crash, but instead of being
closed, it remains open keeping the whole shell frozen.
The only workaround I could find to resume working has been to move to
another tty, killall inkscape, and then switch back to the graphical
shell.
