I guess if the intention were to read and display groups without changing them, there would not be an 'add group' feature at all or it would not be possible to change groups by drag&drop.
The problem might be related to libfolks. I think libfolks use all backends read only and if the change group operation is implemented through libfolks, nothing will be updated at the backend server. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765123 Title: Group membership is not saved on client restart. Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: empathy When empathy goes offline then online, or my account is disabled and re-enabled, or when the chat client is quit and restarted, some small number of randomly selected contacts are displayed either in the "Ungrouped" or default "Buddies" groups. It's not always the same contact, but there seems to be several contacts to whom this happens more frequently. If it matters, the only account that I use is IBM Sametime.
