Hi Hans, Thank you for taking your time to look into this. When you say "I tried to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 16.04" you probably mean "Ubuntu 16.04.3", because I also succeeded installing libsndfile1-dev package on Ubuntu 16.04.3 without any problems. But if you tried on Ubuntu 16.04.2 you would have faced the same problem.
I opened this bug more than a month ago and since then I have upgraded all my systems from 16.04.2 to 16.04.3 so I can't try running `apt policy libsndfile1-dev` as you suggest.
