It looks like they recently fixed it upstream. Let's see if bionic will resolve this problem.
** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #767611 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=767611 ** Also affects: evince via https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=767611 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838884 Title: No 'save' option in the menu Status in Evince: Unknown Status in evince package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Evince now allows to "edit" PDF files, for example, to add annotations. Now we NEED a metu option to save the result. Currently (v. 3.1.2) there is only 'Save As' option which is really PITA to use. For some strange reason it opens the home directory and then you have to search for the correct one. This is really really bad as I often do not known where the file is located (yes, I can find that, but WHY?). Please add a normal 'Save' menu. Thank you.
