can't see hard drive usage with system monitor

Bug description:
I use ubuntu 11.10
I see my main hard drive at 2%,
than my CD player appear
also 1 usb key
I got 1 usb and 1 raid array how are like flashing on and off (mostly
off)
ie. I don't see them for 15 seconds and they appear for 1 sec (% usage is
good)
