libreoffice cannot open a document not within $HOME

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop

LibreOffice documents cannot be accessed from Vbox Shared Folders

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Error message: Access to /media/sf_hp-data/Bert/Documents/To Do.odt
  was denied.

It happens only in Vbox Shared Folders and only using Ubuntu 17.10,
18.04 and Ubuntu Mate 17.10, which might be related to the LibreOffice
release and used. Other files like music, plain text
documents and photos can be accessed normally.

I do not have the same problem in e.g the Virtual Machines Peppermint
8 or Linux Mint 18.3 with LibreOffice release Nor in the VM
Xubuntu 17.10 and MX17 Linux with LibreOffice release
