Marking as Invalid because the release is EOL is not correct. Marking as 
Incomplete. Also, 18.04 is (at the time of writing) still in development, and 
you should expect some breakage.

Bug description:
  Gedit 3.22 crashes upon launch whenever gedit-latex-plugin AND (the
  Snippets plugin OR External tools) are enabled.

  Gedit works fine with onlt the latex plugin OR the snippet plugin
  enabled.

  Steps to reproduce :

  Open gedit
  go to edit-preferences-plugins
  uncheck all plugins 
  check only the snippets plugin
  close gedit
  install gedit-latex-plugin
  open gedit
  go to edit-preferences-plugins
  check Latex plugin in addition to the Snippet plugin
  close gedit
  when attempting to open gedit again, it should segfault

  To be able to launch gedit again uninstall gedit-latex-plugin
