I've marked folks as affected too because it also doesn't work if the
linking is made via gnome-contacts.

Title:
Linking with purple-based (skype) contact fails
Status in folks:
New
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I have an MSN account and a purple-based pidgin-skype account. Contacts of
both appear in my contact list. When I link two MSN contacts, it works as
expected. When I link a Skype contact (either with an MSN or another Skype
contact), nothing happens after selecting the contacts to link. In my
~/.xsession-errors the following message is given:
(empathy:26316): libebook-CRITICAL **: e_contact_set_attributes: assertion
`field_id >= 1 && field_id <= E_CONTACT_FIELD_LAST' failed
I had expected the contacts to become linked.
Ubuntu 11.10 / empathy 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 / libpurple0 1:2.10.0-0ubuntu2 /
pidgin-skype 20110407+svn612+dfsg-1ubuntu1
