(It would be useful if the bug reporting tool would stay open as long as the user stop it. This way the user would be able to compare the bug his computer found with the similar bugs the bugs tracker tool found... Just a suggestion.) Here is all I can say about the context in which the bug was detected by the bug reporting tool: - The bug occurs in a VMware virtual computer. - This VMware virtual computer was executed on VMware Workstation Pro for Linux 14.1.1 build-7528167. - This installation of VMware Workstation was running on Ubuntu Server 16.04.4 with ubuntu-desktop and gnome-session-flashback installed. - The host computer is an Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 (not overclockable and not overclocked) - The host computer has 32 GB of DDR3 RAM clocked at 1600 MHz with Intel XMP - The "/" filesystem of the virtual computer is stored in a VMware vmdk file stored on an ext4 partition stored on a mdadm RAID-0 device made of 4 SATA 3 hard drives directly connected on the host motherboard. - The swap filesystem of the virtual computer is stored in a VMware vmdk file stored on an ext4 partition stored on a SATA 3 solid state drive directly connected on the host motherboard. - The virtual computer was virtualizing Intel VTx/EPT, CPU performance counters and IOMMU. - The open-vm-tools-desktop package was installed on the virtual computer. - The /etc/fstab file of the virtual computer was altered to contain ".host:/ /mnt/hgfs fuse.vmhgfs-fuse allow_other 0 0" to enable access to the host's VMware shared folders from the virtual computer operating system. - When the bug occured, I was simply browsing these filesystems with nautilus ("/" and "/mnt/hgfs/").
