Thanks. The common factor then in both reports of this bug is that nouveau is in use. And historically, this isn't surprising. Nouveau has occasionally had such missing textures bugs like this over the years.
Please try installing the Nvidia proprietary driver if you haven't already: sudo apt install nvidia-driver-390 Another fix which may be required at the same time, or as an alternative is to tell gdm3 to not try to use Wayland. You can do that by editing /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and uncommenting: #WaylandEnable=false -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1760201 Title: ubuntu 18.04 GDM - missing icons and letters on login screen Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 18.04(Updated 30.03.2018) System Language: Turkish Please check screenshots --- ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-03-24 (9 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Alpha amd64 (20180324) Package: gnome-shell PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-13.14-generic 4.15.10 Tags: bionic Uname: Linux 4.15.0-13-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1760201/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
