One more note - the packages provided on the LO website ship with their own version of the UNO runtime environment (exact package name is libreoffice3.4-ure), so it seems I don't have to do without the URE environment after all :-) Without having any extensive knowledge on packaging it's kind of weird to be suggesting this, but perhaps there should be some kind of 'conflicts' dependency (?) added to either of these packages?
