This is not an issue with the Ubuntu Dock extension.

You can see this issue however you first start synaptic including via
the terminal or Activities search. The problem also affects other
applications that require authorisation.

I'm moving this to gnome-shell for now.

  - click the Synaptic icon in Ubuntu-dock
  - when Synaptic starts click cancel
  - click the Synaptic icon in Ubuntu-dock
  Synaptic will not start
