Description: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Release: 18.04
jbirkhofer@jlb181:~$ apt-cache policy gdm3
gdm3:
Installed: 3.28.0-0ubuntu1
Candidate: 3.28.0-0ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 3.28.0-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Boot does not finish, crashes or stops at:
gdm.servicegdm.service
[ OK ] Started Dispatcher daemon for systemd-networkd.
[ OK ] Created slice User Slice of gdm.
Starting User Manager for UID 120...
[ OK ] Started Session c1 of user gdm.
[ OK ] Started User Manager for UID 120.
And this is where it will sit it goes no further.
I found a fix somewhere that worked.
Edit /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and uncomment 'WaylandEnable=false'
This allowed the boot to finish but I cannont use Firefox to watch
streaming from Netflix or Youtube TV. I have to use Chrome but using
Chrome cause all kinds of unwanted results on my screen caused by moving
the mouse and it is or appears to be totally random.
This is all of the information I have.
