So, I've freshly installed the release version of Xubuntu 18.04 and applied updates, and now Gnome-Mines uninstalls as expected.
However, the "SGT Puzzles Collection" which came bundled with Xubuntu still refuses to uninstall properly. Gnome Software says it's removed, yet that cluster of games still appears on the XFCE menu and is launchable. I used the Gnome Software GUI to uninstall the games bundled with Xubuntu (Gnome Sudoku, Mines, and the cluster of games grouped as "SGT Puzzles Collection". Gnome Sudoku was uninstalled as expected, but both Mines and the puzzles collection disappeared from the "installed" list within Software while still remaining in the XFCE main menu and are still launchable.
