Steps:
* upgrade Ubuntu 16.10 -> do_release_upgrade -d
* reboot
* login to Xfce
Expected outcome:
* see a working desktop
Actual outcome:
* see only the desktop background, no panel, no menu
* switched to VT1, logged in to try to figure out what happened, but then X
got restarted
* login again, all good this time
* got popup about Xorg crash
