Now I am keeping the same error message, but "xdg-screensaver suspend" does suspend the screen saver. I don't know what possibly have caused the change, between the time I filed the report and now I installed several packages but they are normally unrelated to screensavers... Anyhow you can close the bug (or tell me how to find out the packages I installed in between, so that I uninstall them and make another test).
