I found kind of a workaround for this problem. 1. gedit /etc/default/grub 2. change: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=off"
3. sudo update-grub 4. reboot 5. now the brighness controls works but there is no indicator on the upper right corner (I can live with that) I dont know what the option 'acpi=off' exaclty does....... so I dont know if it is a valid solution for the problem.
