Hello Andy. Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2008 regarding Thunderbird and there have been several versions of Thunderbird since then. Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? Or, if it is still a problem, could you come to Launchpad and make a comment to that effect? Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better. Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Binary package hint: thunderbird Ubuntu version: 8.04 (Desktop) Thunderbird package version: 2.0.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1 Because I've selected "Western Encoding", which works best on my laptop, I continue to get the Character Encoding warning every time Thunderbird automatically saves the draft message I'm working on. Even after acknowledging the warning, it comes up again at the next auto-save, and again when the message is sent. I have purposely set my character encoding to Western (instead of Unicode) so, why do I continue to receive the Character Encoding warning? Shouldn't there be a way to stop the warning after the first time it warns you? This is extremely annoying when typing long messages!! Can't a patch be made for this??
