I am no longer experiencing this bug and have not experienced it for at
least months, and likely longer, possibly since late 2016. As far as I
am concerned, this bug report can be closed as resolved.

For me this bug was resolved by only applying the regular Ubuntu updates
to my system, without upgrading to a newer release. I don't know if the
problem was fixed in Firefox, because of newer video device drivers, or
something else.

Thanks for the follow up and all that you do to support Ubuntu and
Firefox.

Title:
Firefox blotchy graphics in Google Maps

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Google maps are displayed in Firefox with blotches. It can take a few
seconds for the blotches to stablize. It occurs both with the
symbolic maps and the satellite images, and typically gets worse with
more zoomed-in views. The blotches seem to be rather random.

I don't have a problem with any other kind of graphics or video,
  Firefox or otherwise.

I will attach or otherwise post three example screenshots.
