Hello Jeremy,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2009 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 439537

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
New message counts for mail clients should appear in the indicator

Status in mutt package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: mutt

Newer versions ubuntu provide a mail notifier icon in the
indicator/messaging menu. Currently, this seems to only support
  Evolution users.

Users of other clients, like mutt and thunderbird, should equally have
access to desktop mail notification features via the messaging menu.

How can programs like mutt, or thunderbird, which have varying degrees
of information and connectedness to desktop toolkits and libraries, be
integrated into an otherwise well-fitting desktop?
