After removing Opera as a startup application, the problem persisted, but not in safe mode. However, i tried turning on each individual program at startup and Gwibber started unnecessarily loading one core but not the other core every time I tried turning on gwibber.
Since then, I tried reinstalling Gwibber and it gave the same problem, but after completely removing it, my laptop starts up without a hitch. ** Package changed: ubuntu => gwibber (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gwibber in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/898740 Title: Desktop repeteadly Freezes at startup Status in “gwibber” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Every time I startup my laptop, it freezes for a 30-40 seconds, starts working for a short while then freezes again for a minute. What happens exactly is that one of my cores looks like it's on 100% load even though it doesn't change from 1/4 scaling frequency on ondemand powersaving mode. The mouse cursor still responds although clicking on anything has no effect (at least until it unfreezes). I'm using gnome classic on Ubuntu 11.04 and this error seems to happen around the time the computer tries to startup Opera browser and connect to my wi-fi network (sometimes connects successfully, sometimes not). I also tried checking the system monitor between freezes and during them it says "status uninterruptible" for my opera browser and gwibber-service. This started happening in the last week before my last system update. Any help would be appreciated, in the meanwhile I will try disabling Opera from the startup applications.
