Hello Paul,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 779889

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
While downloading, clicking on new message takes you to a different
  one

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

Clicking on a message that is downloading does not show you that
  message. To reproduce:

    1. Have somebody send you 29MB email
    2. Find a very slow network (eg. UDS)
    3. Click download
    4. Wait until message is half-downloaded
    5. Click on the message that is downloading

  What happens:

    6. Another unrelated message opens

  What should happen:

    6. Text body the downloading message should be shown that the user
clicked on should be shown, ideally even if its attachments are not
ready, but definitely not showing another message.
