Hello Indium,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 795114

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
thunderbird corrupts email attachments from MS exchange 2010 server

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

I access my emails on the Microsoft Exchange 2010 server via IMAP on
Thunderbird 3.1.10. The pdf attachments are corrupted by Thunderbird
  without any GUI-type warnings.

First I thought the PDFs were corrupted, because Evince displays them
without a (GUI-type) warning, but with the pages completely blank.

However, when I save the PDF in Thunderbird as "b.pdf" and then save
the same file via the microsoft webmail interface as a.pdf I get
  different file sizes already:

  $> ls -l a.pdf b.pdf
  -rw-r--r-- 1 myname mygroup 641187 2011-06-09 16:43 a.pdf
  -rw-r--r-- 1 myname mygroup 467767 2011-06-09 16:44 b.pdf
  $>

(as a verification, I also downloaded the PDF attachment via the
alpine email client: same result as via webmail interface)

Then, I start Evince from that command line:

  $> evince a.pdf
  Error: Invalid Font Weight
  $>
(several errors like this, but the PDF is displayed correctly.)

On the Thunderbird downloaded attachment I get:
  $> evince b.pdf
Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
  Error: Invalid XRef entry
Error: Kid object (page 3) is wrong type (null)
  $>
...........(and many more errors: see b.log attachment)

Obviously Thunderbird does something seriously wrong with fetching the
  attachment.
