Hello Kimiko,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 811643
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
RFE: external mail filtering
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Ahead of the proposed move from Evolution to Thunderbird as default mail
client for Oneiric, I've tried it out for myself for a week.
I like that it is much faster and allows one to remove/hide unnecessary
features like calendars and printing. (the tab bar can't be removed though it
seems).
One (imho) essential feature that Thunderbird is missing though is the
ability to run incoming mail through an external filter. There is an
option to heed SpamAssassin headers, but no option (and no plugin
either that I could find) to get those SA headers from any source
other than the mail server. Thunderbird has its own spam filtering
built in, but it is simply not as good as the real thing.
