Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the 
desktop-file-utils package and your selected default browser.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the 
ticket? 
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 882256

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

  Firefox hardcoded in default file

Status in desktop-file-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Upon install desktop-file-utils should get asked what defaults he
  would like. As not all applications honor the desktop url open helper.
  Using XFCE and chromium-browser as a default, http links in
  thunderbird still get opened in firefox due to the default file.
