Hello Cirelle,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Firefox.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Firefox since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 891834

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Firefox better.

Title:
  ubuntu 10.10 firefox 3.6.24 text/x-pdf file corruption

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
It has become apparent to me when using firefox and squirrelmail to
send PDF attachments, the browser wants to assign the mime type of
  text/x-pdf.

When using this mime type, the pdf's always get corrupted at the
recipient webmail, thunderbird as well as my local webmail.

The only solution I found was to edit the mimeTypes.rdf file and
  remove all occurrences of text/x-pdf

This did not happen in Google Chrome or my direct download of
  SeaMonkey.

The maintainer should look into eliminating the text/x-pdf mime type
  by default

RFC indicates .pdf is to be associated with application/pdf which will
include the text/x-pdf type, but using the raw text/x-pdf type breaks
  pdf files.

  Thanks
