Hello Ankur,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 921410
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
cannot customise / change path of "Local Directory"
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I am using thunderbird on dual boot i.e. windows XP & Ubuntu.
As i am sharing same account data in both OS, I have made a separate folder
for keeping my downloaded emails which i access through thunderbird installed
on windows XP & Ubuntu.
For that i need to modify defauld "Local Directory" {Edit --> Account
Setting --> server settings --> Local Directory (browse)}
I found that I can change the "local directory" from windows XP installed
thunderbird but i CANNOT do it from ubuntu installed thunderbird.
When i click on browse & go to my desired folder & select it, the
selected folder do not appear in "Local Directory" window; instead it
keep on showing default folder i.e.
(/home/ankur/.thunderbird/orwq15s7.default/ImapMail/imap.googlemail.com)
... please note that till Thunderbird version 7 or older I did not
have any issue like this. This problem i see from version 8 & also in
version 9.
Please fix it ASAP otherwise using thunderbird dose not have any sense
as I need to download same account data separately for Windows XP &
Ubuntu, which is ill-logical.
