Hello again, Jay,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with drop downs in
Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
When drop-down button is clicked, then loses focus, button text turns
  white

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce (Ambiance theme):

  1) Click the down-arrow on the "Write" button in the Thunderbird toolbar. (Or
the "Tag" Button)
  2) Move the mouse cursor out of the area of the button.
  3) The "Write" text on the button turns white, as though it thinks the button
has the inactive dark gray background.

  Expected behavior:

The "Write" text should remain dark gray so as to be legible against
  the light button background color.
