Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

cannot create subfolder on IMAP account

Bug description:
I tried creating a new subfolder "debian → nm → asdf" (I use "→" to
indicate subfolders) on my IMAP account by right-clicking on the
"debian → nm" folder from the list, choosing "New Subfolder..." and
entering "asdf" in the popup dialog. The "nm" folder is selected in
the "Create as a subfolder of" field of the form.
However instead of a "asdf" subfolder in "debian → nm", I get a
"nm^asdf" subfolder in "debian".
Note that "debian → nm" itself doesn't really exist, it only has
subfolders (in the folder list it is displayed in italic grey).
