You made this bug report in 2013 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then. Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? You can't make it thiner. This is anoying and breacks certain OS functionalities. I for acample use a 1600*1200 Eizo screen as second display. Until TB 17 it was possible to arange thunderbird with the gnome builtin snap2frame that it woul use half of that screen. This isn't possible anymore becouse thnderbird wont alow it to be only 800px width. Reproduce: Try to make your thunderbird smaler than 800px.
