Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Sounds like this is a problem with the Network Manager OpenVPN plugin rather than OpenVPN itself, so I'm retasking the bug. ** Package changed: openvpn (Ubuntu) => network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager-openvpn in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1786591 Title: password mode: save greyed out if certificate is not chosen Status in network-manager-openvpn package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When: adding a new VPN connection under: VPN type "Password" Problem: the "Save" button remains greyed out unless a "CA Certificate" is chosen. Expected solution: a way to disable the "CA Certificate" setting. Comments: My VPN provider (TU Darmstadt) does not require a certificate, only a name/password pair. On the corresponding Network Manager tab, there is no way to disable the CA Certificate. The "Save" button remains grayed out unless some "CA Certificate" is chosen. As a test, I attempted to add a certificate from another connection. The button was then accessible, but the connection could not be established.
