I'm using two email addresses, let's call them @A and @B. @A is my official
email, @B my alias from the same mail provider. So I can choose, which sender
I want to be when sending or answering emails with thunderbird.
Now I got problems with hotmail, the mail provider of a friend, to get rid of
that problem, he got a second email address at yahoo, so that I can send
answers to him without problems.
He sends emails from hotmail to me, taking my @B address and I'm answering to
his yahoo address.
Getting an email from that friend, that he sent to @B, I select reply, going
to the field "to", delete his hotmail address and type in his yahoo address,
than I type in my message to him and send the email away.
THAN HE GETS TWO MAILS FROM ME! One with my message and @B as sender (that
means the right one), another without any message and my @A as sender.
(Sometimes the empty mail comes back to me, caused to the above mentioned
problems with hotmail). That means, when I typed in his other email address,
thunderbird sent away an empty email independently and with the false senders
address.
Now imagine this: I want to keep my first email address secret, when
something like that happens it's no fun. It's easy to get rid of an alias email
address, but to change the real email address can be very stressful.
