Title:
Thunderbird unresponsive after a few minutes
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Using Kubuntu Jaunty 64 bit on a AMD64 system with 2 Gb of memory.

Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
~$ apt-cache policy thunderbird

Installed: 2.0.0.21+nobinonly-0ubuntu1.9.04.1
Candidate: 2.0.0.21+nobinonly-0ubuntu1.9.04.1

When I leave Thunderbird running for more than about 5 minutes it becomes
very unresponsive. It can take almost a minute before it responds to anything
happens (after typing text or clicking a button). When I click the close window
button in the top right corner (X) I will get a warning that thunderbird is no
longer responding, when clicking 'Keep running' it will eventually close down.
The fact thunderbird is slow does not affect other programs, they just keep
responding as normal.
When I start thunderbird back up after closing it down it will respond
normally again for a few minutes and then it starts over again.
