  Unable to access gmail-doesn't accept passwords

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

  When accessing gmail it asks for password to get new email. It doesn't
  recognize my password and tells me to make a new password. I make a
  new password and it still doesn't accept the new one. It keeps looping
  back in circles. Asking again for password and to make a new password.
  Unable to access gmail account at all. I use Thunderbird version
  2.0.0.21
