I am so sorry, Gpk, about the lack of response to your report. The bug reports
are handled by people from around the globe, the majority of whom are
volunteers. Unfortunately, they missed this one and it fell down in the queue.
I just started bug triaging a little over 2 months ago and I was quite
surprised to find there were some old tickets still unaddressed. So, I thought
I would start by trying to clear up some of these old bug reports.
I apologize again for them not getting back to you.
Take care
G

Title:
What if the network goes down after a message is composed?

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
The following scenario is rather annoying on a laptop with a dubious wifi
network:
  1) compose a message.
  2) hit the send button
  3) SMTP works
  4) network goes away
  5) Copy to the "SEND" folder fails (assume it is on a remote machine)
At this point, you're stuck, because you cannot change the name of the
server, or change to local files. Also, it's effectively impossible to
switch to another wifi network because the "Try again" pop-up keeps popping up.

Odds are goo that you'll have to retype the message.
Worse, if it is sent, you'll probably lose the record that you sent it.
